Our Story

Design-forward since 2007.

Think Company began as a shared conviction between two colleagues who believed software could be designed better. Brian McIntire met Carl White through a mutual friend, and the two spent the next ten years working side by side through a string of companies swept up in the dot-com boom’s acquisition wave. They learned a lot, built a tight working relationship, and watched the industry evolve in a way that frustrated them.

At the time, what passed for software design in many organizations was a requirements document from the business, a build by developers, and then designers brought in at the very end to match a corporate color palette. The result looked acceptable but often wasn’t usable. Workflows were confusing. Little thought was given to real user behavior, priority use cases, or the actual jobs people were trying to get done.

Brian and Carl started talking about what a better model could look like: start with real user research, uncover what matters most, and create an interface that serves users first — then build from that design spec, not the other way around.

For years, this was a someday idea, until 2007, when a longtime client-turned-friend called with an offer: a big project with a pharmaceutical company — the kind of anchor work that made them feel good about taking the leap. The company launched with a clear point of view: great work comes from being close to users, close to the problem, and close to the client team.

That last part became part of Think’s DNA immediately. Their earliest engagements were fully embedded — Brian and Carl worked five days a week inside the client’s office, operating as an integrated extension of the client’s team. That model created deep trust and strong client relationships.

Over time, the company grew beyond what either of them originally imagined. Large organizations consistently needed help modernizing complex business applications, and Think’s approach was exactly what they were looking for.
