Internal Medical Information Repository for a Fortune 100 Pharmaceutical Company

The Challenge

  • Existing internal medical information search tool was overly complex and not designed with users in mind
  • Existing solution placed a heavy technical onus on users, who reported, “if you’re not in it everyday, it’s very easy to forget how to use it”
  • Company expressed interest in a “Google-style” simple access point for intermittent users along with a redesign making all aspects of search and browse more simple and intuitive

The Goal

Design a simple, intuitive interface for internal access to the medical information database

Our Approach

  • Based on internal user profiles, designed a new user interface for searching internal medical information assets
  • Included a simple, “Google-like” interface for basic personas as well as a more detailed tool for advanced personas that exposes the taxonomy and faceted browsing of all materials
